본 연구는 리더십을 공동체적 삶의 보편적 원리에 기초한 윤리문화적 현상으로 파악하고, 리더십의 관계와 과정, 기술에 내포된 윤리문화적 메카니즘을 식별하고 해석, 검증한 것으로서 유효성과 실증적 방법에 기초한 기존의 접근방법과는 구별된다. 주요 내용은, 첫째, ‘윤리문화’의 개념 정립과 리더십의 윤리문화적 접근방법의 설정이다. 윤리문화는 구성원에 의해 공유될 수 있는 가치에 대한 사고와 행동의 기준으로서, 윤리적 이상의 당위와 실제의 문화적 가치의 균형적 조화와 윤리적 실천으로 구현된다. 이러한 윤리문화의 사고와 행동체계를 리더십에 적용하여 리더십의 구조와 기능을 근본적으로 파악하고자 한다. 둘째, 윤리문화적 리더십 모형 구축이다. 리더십의 관계, 과정, (...) 기술에 있어서 윤리적 이상의 당위와 실제의 문화적 가치의 균형적 조화와 윤리적 실천을 통해 갈등극복, 문제해결, 동기부여의 리더십 기능을 올바르게 수행함으로써 개인목표와 함께 공동목표를 달성하는 진정한 영향력을 도출하려는 것이다. 셋째, 세종대왕 리더십 사례 분석이다. 세종대왕 리더십은 대의와 위민과 덕화를 리더십의 윤리적 이상의 당위로 삼고, 안정과 치민과 교화를 실제의 문화적 가치로 삼아 균형적 조화와 윤리적 실천이라는 윤리문화적 사고와 행동체계를 리더십의 관계와 과정과 기술에 적용하였다. 이러한 리더십을 통해 갈등을 극복하고 문제를 해결하며 동기를 유발시켜 신료들로 하여금 국가의 일을 자기의 책임으로 생각하고 변화와 창조에 자발적이고 헌신적으로 행동하는 진정한 영향력을 이끌어냄으로써 민족 정체성을 확립하고 문화적 기틀을 구축하였다. 세종대왕의 리더십은 윤리문화적 리더십 모형이 잘 구현된 리더십 사례라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구를 통해 현대사회에서 요구되는 리더십은 공동체적 삶의 보편적 원리인 도덕과 윤리를 기본바탕으로 삼아야 하며, 윤리적 이상의 당위와 실제의 문화적 가치를 균형적으로 조화시키고 윤리적으로 실천하는 리더의 덕을 잘 발휘하여 진정한 영향력을 이끌어 낼 수 있어야 한다는 점이다. 본 연구에서 제시한 윤리문화적 리더십은 현대 리더십의 적실성과 실천성의 문제를 해결하는 하나의 대안이 될 수 있다. Hak San 鶴山 Yi Jeong-ho 李正浩 conceptualized and drew the “Hunminjeongeum-do” 訓民正音圖 (Diagram of Hunminjeongeum) using the basic initial consonants and 11 medial vowels of Hunminjeongeum 訓民正音 (It is the Korean alphabet, also called Hangeul). In the process, he added several strokes that were not part of the 28 letters of Hunminjeongeum to the “Hunminjeongeum-do” to emphasize the shapes of stars. This was intended to demonstrate the similarity between the “ Hunminjeongeum-do” and the “Jeongyeok Eight Trigrams Diagram” (正易八卦圖), thereby suggesting (...) that the Zhouyi 周易 philosophy embedded in the creation of Hunminjeongeum inherently contains the Jeongyeok 正易 (Correct Zhouyi) philosophy. Furthermore, he created the Celestial Diagram of Hunminjeongeum using the 28 Lunar Mansions of the ecliptic, which he referred to as the Jeongeum cheonmun-do 正音天文圖. In this diagram, he included the two central positions, elevated as the Emperor of Heaven and the Great Emperor, and applied a 30- day month calendar using all of these elements. In fact, it is based on the discussion in the Jeongyeok regarding the “Diagram of the 28 Lunar Mansions’ Energy Flow chart” (二十八宿運氣圖). The Jeongeum cheonmun-do can be found to contain similar concepts to those in the records of astronomical calendrical science from the Lüshi chunqiu 呂氏春秋, written during the Warring States period in China, and the “ Yaodian” 堯典 chapter of the Shujing 書經. Moreover, it is closely related to the circular diagram of the Fuxi 64 Hexagrams and also shares commonality with the star illustrations found in the Cheonsang yeolcha bunyajido 天象列次分 野之圖, a celestial map engraved in the early Joseon Dynasty. Haksan sought to demonstrate through the Jeongeum cheonmundo that ‘the intention of King Sejong, the Sage King, to illuminate the Heavenly Way and care for the affairs of the people upon his ascension to the throne is revealed in the creation of the miraculous letters Hunminjeongeum, and that the spirit of its creation embodies the Confucian concept of the Heavenly Way.’. WellsHumboldt State UniversityOver the course of the last decade a fairly large number of Buddhist temples in South Korea have been destroyed or damaged by fire by misguided Christian fundamentalists. More recently, Buddhist statues have been identified as idols, and attacked and (...) decapitated in the name of Jesus. Arrests are hard to effect, as the arsonists and vandals work by stealth of night. In 1998, the Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies announced its support for our Buddhist brothers and sisters and our disgust at such violent misuse of the name of Jesus. At the 1998 Board meeting, an ad hoc committee was set up to explore and develop strategies which would further address the situation. Below are some actions which have occurred during 1999. A Letter from Our President: The following letter of protest was sent on the Society's behalf on January 25, 1999 to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea and other governmental officials plus Korean church leaders and organizations. A second letter was sent to the U.S. State Department and the headquarters of various church bodies in the U.S. as well as the National Council of Churches. The Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies wishes to register its deepest sadness and most profound protest regarding the numerous acts of arson and malicious destruction done to Buddhist temples by misinformed and intolerant fundamentalist Christian groups throughout the Republic of South Korea. Professor Frank Tedesco of Sejong University first drew the attention of the Society to these incidents in an article he published in 1997 in Buddhist-Christian Studies, the journal of the Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies. More recently, two more Buddhist temples have been burned by fundamentalist Christians, seven hundred Buddhist images have been decapitated, and the Roman Catholic Cathedral was also burned because it contained images. All members of the Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies, both Christian and Buddhist, are embarrassed that such acts have been done in the name of [End Page 239] Jesus Christ, a name that demands that all persons should live in justice and peace, not sectarian stupidity and religious fanaticism. The small, but vocal, number of fundamentalist Christians in Korea who defend such actions as blows against pagan idolatry are simply wrong. Their actions are contrary to the core of Christian teaching and practice, which is that all persons are to be treated with love, justice, and respect. There is no excuse for intra-religious violence in Buddhist or Christian teaching and practice. Accordingly, the Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies not only deplores fundamentalist Christian attacks against Korean Buddhist temples, images, and persons, we ask that the government of Korea actively seek out all groups and persons engaged in violent actions against our Buddhist brothers and sisters and bring them to justice according to the laws of the Republic of Korea. May the peace at the heart of the Christian tradition and the heart of the Buddha's Dharma heal the minds of the violent so that all human beings may one day live as brothers and sisters in accord and dialogue.
